Why Should You Know Jesus?
Christ is the Son of the Living God, and that’s ‘why you must know Jesus!’
Why does it matter to know Jesus?
Before we attempt to answer the question above, it’s imperative to provide both the context and the background about the significance of Jesus Christ concerning the Salvation of human beings. Therefore, to address the importance of Christ’s finished work of Salvation on the Cross, we shall consider a couple of scriptures to lay the background properly.
1. John 5: 22-23, For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not glorify the Father who sent Him.
2. John 3:17-19
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than Light because their deeds were evil.
Four important highlights or critical points jump out immediately from the scriptures above and will guide us in addressing the main reasons why every person in the world must know Jesus.
- The Father has committed all Judgement to the Son, Meaning Jesus Christ is the ultimate judge of all humanity, and that right there establishes the key significant point of why you must know Him! -The Lord Jesus Christ!
- God can only save the world/humanity through Jesus, His Son. There is no other method/alternative or choice in the eyes of The Almighty God to bring Salvation other than through His one and only Son Jesus Christ. No, none; Salvation is ONLY found in Jesus Christ alone! God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but He brought Salvation to humanity through Him/Jesus Christ. Again, this displays another critical aspect and significance of Christ and why all humans must know Him to be saved. Society needs to understand who Jesus Christ is, how He relates to God the Father, how that relationship affects their eternity and how it is linked to Salvation. Jesus Christ matters here on earth and for all eternity. Those who have since departed from the world perfectly and automatically understand reality very well regardless of where they went to spend eternity, either in Heaven or Hell.
- He who does not believe is condemned already because they have not considered or believed in the Only-begotten Son of the Living God. Now, that’s a terrifying statement for anyone to live this life with God’s judgment hanging around their necks recklessly, mainly because they have not believed in the Only-begotten Son of God. Hence, one must know Jesus.
- Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than the Light. Jesus Christ represents the Light of God, Holiness, and righteousness; hence, Him coming into the world to make us Holy just like the Father and help us inherit Salvation. Once we become born again, we automatically qualify to spend eternity with God the Father in Heaven because our sins and iniquity have been washed with the blood of Jesus Christ and completely forgiven, and that’s why you must know Jesus.
Without Jesus Christ in the life of humanity and without a Spiritual belief in Him as Lord and Savior who died on the Cross on their behalf, one remains a lost soul.
Meaning that; they lived a spiritually empty, wasted, and purposeless life without any meaning because they lived outside of Christ as their Lord and Savior of their soul. Unfortunately, after death comes, they would spend eternity in a very dangerous place called Hell because their sins were not forgiven and washed with his blood, and their names were missing from the Book of Life.
Why would anyone want to live a wasted life?
That’s a question that individuals can only answer themselves because they make their personal decisions alone. Each person is responsible for the ultimate decision and choice about where they would like to spend eternity. Thankfully, God has fully paid the sin price on behalf of all humanity so that we could spend eternity with Him in Heaven and not in Hell with Satan.
How did God reveal His Son to become the Lord and Messiah to humankind? We serve a great God who is very strategic in all He does. He achieves all His eternal purposes, both for His glory and for the benefit of humanity as well.
The Bible answers that question in Matthew 16:13-20, where the Apostle Peter was the first to answer the Lord Jesus Christ after Christ had asked His twelve disciples, “who the people thought He was!”
By the grace and help of God, Peter was able to answer correctly and formally reveal the true identity of Jesus, not only as of The Christ but also, The Son of the living God.
To which Jesus Himself replied to Peter that ‘this revelation occurred to him for the sake of disclosure and was heavenly in nature, and strategically directed through the help of The Holy Spirit from God the Father. In other words, God finally and formally revealed the true identity of His Son to humanity as both Christ and the Son of the living God through the Holy Spirit and used the Apostle Peter as the conduit to achieve that purpose.
Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah
Matthew 16:13
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
“4 They replied, “Some,” say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“5 “But what about you?” “He asked. “Who do you say I am?”
“6 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
“7 Jesus replied, Blessed are you, Simon bar Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in Heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.” “0 Then, he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
Jesus is knocking on the door of every heart that does not know Him as Lord and Savior even right now as you read this post, so that He may come in and make you a child of God through His blood and give you hope for eternal life.

Revelation 3:20
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Jesus Christ will never invade anyone’s heart; no, He can only plead with all sinners to let Him come into their hearts. Jesus Christ is just and kind and has given us the gift of “free will,” to allow us to make decisions based on our own will, knowing well that whatever decisions we make in regards to Salvation shall have eternal consequences just like any other decisions we make in physical life that affect us in different ways.
Therefore, Jesus is calling and seeking out your heart today, that He may dwell in it through the Holy Spirit, and this might be the ONLY time(when you are still alive and on this earth) that He may do so, and this may be the only chance for you to open your heart for Him.
In the book of Isaiah 55:6,

6 Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near. God is warning that there will come a time when He will not be found and will not be accessible. He says that if you call on Him now in this life, you can see Him through Jesus Christ, but it will be impossible to find Him if you wait until after death.
Jesus Christ forever remains that precious and essential Life that brings eternal life to humanity. He issues such sincere warnings because He loves us very much and does not want to see any of us die an everlasting death(an eternal death in Hell).
We see God reaching out to humanity for fellowship, God craves a connection with man, for He loves man so much that He created him in His image, Genesis 1:27 (New King James Version)
27 So God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
He created man in His image, thus wants to protect His investment, “so to speak,” He does NOT want to see man perish, or His very own go down the wrong way, for He loves him dearly and very seriously.
It is the same love that John talks about in John 3:16 (New King James Version)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Think about that statement for a moment! that God loved man so much that He gave up His own begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die and make a sacrificial atonement for the sin of humanity by the shedding of His blood, for the Bible says; that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin or forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:22 (New King James Version)
22 And according to the law, almost all things are purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.
After Jesus shed His blood and accomplished the mission that God had sent Him for, “He said it is finished,” signifying an unconditional release from the power of sin and spiritual death and giving him(man) freedom to fellowship with the Almighty God through worship and prayer, anytime, anywhere 24/7, 365 days of the year.
Jesus Christ will always remain at the door of every sinner’s heart, knocking to be allowed to enter and bring Salvation. If one rejects Him and adamantly refuses to open the door of their heart to Him, then they will die as lost souls and be damned in Hell forever.
Please accept God’s free offer of Salvation today, which He fully paid on the Cross of His Son Jesus Christ, on behalf of humanity.
Salvation is now; yes, and it is free; take it today and not tomorrow!
There are severe consequences if you do not accept this free offer of Salvation that God the Father gives to humanity. All humans MUST receive Salvation, and If they refuse this offer and die, first, they would be denied entry into Heaven. Nobody would like to be denied access into Heaven because the consequences of that happening are not only dire but quite unimaginable. Oh, please don’t be denied entry into Heaven because if you are banned, then be prepared for the other side (HELL), which is the absence of Heaven, and total eternal separation from the presence of the Almighty God, where you will find yourself in one of the loneliest, isolated and horrible places one could ever imagine.
Description of Hell;
Hell is an indescribable and a real place where multitudes of people fall into every minute of the hour. A very horrible place with an authentic and nasty feeling of groping in space while engulfed in the darkest of flames you could ever imagine. Hell is a place of unquenchable, roaring, hot, and thirsty fire; (like live Lava from an erupting volcano). Unfortunately, those who end up there experience a feeling like being tossed off a sixty-story building and never getting to the bottom, in the worst heat and stench your nose has ever smelled while crying and wailing so loud with no one in sight to help and this goes on forever. While worms, snakes, and demons ravage your body continuously and constantly throw spears and crude objects at you while hating you so bad at the same time (because that place belongs to them, NOT you.
Jesus described that place as a place of unquenchable fire and where worms are forever present and everlasting. Matthew 3:12 (New King James Version)
12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Matthew 13:42 (New King James Version)
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

41 “then He will also say to those on the left hand, “depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

where “where the worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’

6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; they gather them and throw them into the fire and are burned.
Jesus also described that place in a story in Luke 16:19-31
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 “The time came when the beggar died, and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue because I am in agony in this fire.’
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between you and us, a great chasm has been set in place so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, Father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'”
From the story above, you can see the seriousness of Hell, not only being a place of torment but of great regret about life on earth and squandering the tremendous opportunity to repent and receive forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ.
Here’s what Jesus also said will happen to those who refuse to open the doors of their hearts to him in this life while He remains knocking. He says that He will also refuse (after they die)to open the door to His Kingdom when they need Him most, saying, He did not know them because while on earth, they declined his offer of Salvation. Therefore, that door to enter His Kingdom remains open for humanity right now but not forever; it shall be shut at some point soon permanently, unfortunately.
Luke 13:25 (New King James Version)
25 When once the Master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ ‘nd He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’
‘7 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.‘
‘The refusal and the choice not to accept Christ to come into your heart and write your name in the book of Life is not only consequential but a very costly one indeed, more than any other one has ever made.
It means eternity; it means everything for us. Jesus is Lord and, therefore, essential for us all. He is the ONLY one we need to know to take us to God the Father. John 13:3 (New King James Version)
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father has given all things into His hands and that He had come from God and was going to God,
John 14:6 (New King James Version)
6 Jesus said to him, “I” am the way, the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
God paid the total price for our sins by His Son’sacrificial death on Cross at the hill on Calvary, and so there should be no objection or excuse whatsoever for our sin not to be forgiven, this is what he says about judgment;-
John 17:33 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
When you believe by faith and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and the Lord of your Life (that He died in your place), and repent your sins(forsake and stop sinning), be baptized in water, you shall receive forgiveness of your sins, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
God would then write your name in the Lambs book of Life. But, on the other hand, if you do not believe and refuse to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, therefore your name will be missing from the book of Life, and you shall be cast into the lake of fire, it is guaranteed.
Psalm 9:17
17 The wicked shall be turned into Hell,
And all the nations that forget God.

15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Once you make that decision, angels in Heaven will celebrate your decision as the Father includes your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life; to welcome you to the kingdom of God. (you can kneel right where you are right now and ask Jesus into your heart)
Here’s a simple prayer to say, when you are asking Christ into your heart for the first time, please repeat this prayer;
Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, I repent, my sins before you today, I believe and accept you to be my Lord and Savior who died and shed His blood on the Cross on my behalf, forgive me and come into my heart, fill me with your Holy Spirit, change me to be like you, I believe I am born again today and have become a child of God, Would you please write my name in the book of life and help me follow you daily as your disciple(follower)? Thank you for receiving me into your kingdom; in Jesus’s name, I pray and believe, Amen.
Congratulations: you are now a born-again believer; begin a new life of newness in Christ, away from the world and its lusts.
