Why You Must Know Jesus!
Christ is the Son of the Living God, and that’s ‘why you must know Jesus!’
Why does it matter to know Jesus?
Before we attempt to answer the question above, it’s imperative to provide both the context and the background about the significance of Jesus Christ concerning the salvation of human beings. Therefore, to succeed in addressing the significance of Christ’s finished work of salvation on the Cross, we shall consider a couple of scriptures to lay the background properly.
1.John 5: 22-23, For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
2. John 3:17-19
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.
Four important highlights or key points jump out immediately from the scriptures above that will guide us in addressing the main reasons why every person in the world must know Jesus.
- The Father has committed all Judgement to the Son, Jesus Christ. Meaning, Christ is the ultimate judge of all humanity, and that right there establishes the key significant point of why you must know Him.
- God can only save the world/humanity through Jesus, His son. There is no other alternative or choice in the eyes of The Almighty God, no, none, and there will never be, but Salvation is ONLY found in Jesus Christ alone! God did not send His Son to condemn the world but sent His Son so that the world might be saved through Him/Jesus Christ. Again, this displays another important aspect and significance of Christ and why all humans must know Him to be saved. All human beings need to understand who Jesus Christ is and how He relates to God the Father and how that relationship affects their eternity and also how it is linked to their Salvation, because Jesus Christ matters here on earth and for all eternity, and those who have since departed from the earth perfectly and automatically understand that reality very well regardless of where they went to spend their eternity, either in Heaven or in Hell.
- He who does not believe is condemned already because they have not believed in the Only-begotten Son of the Living God. Now, that’s a terrifying statement for anyone to live this life with God’s judgment hanging around their necks recklessly, mainly because they have not believed in the Only-begotten Son of God. Hence, one must know Jesus.
- Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than the Light. Jesus Christ represents the Light of God, of Holiness and righteousness; hence Him coming into the world to make us Holy just like the Father and help us inherit salvation. Once we become born again, we automatically qualify to spend eternity with God the Father in Heaven once our sins and iniquity have been washed with the blood of Jesus Christ and completely forgiven, and that’s why you must know Jesus.
Without Jesus Christ in our lives, and without a Spiritual belief in Him as the Lord and Savior who died on the cross on our behalf, one remained a lost soul, meaning they lived and wasted their life here on earth by living it outside of Him. Unfortunately, after death comes, they would spend eternity in a very grave and dangerous place called Hell. Why would anyone want to live a wasted life? That’s a question that individuals can only answer because they make their own decisions alone. Each person is responsible for the ultimate decision about where they would like to spend eternity; thankfully, God has fully paid the price on behalf of all humanity so that we could spend eternity with Him in Heaven and not in Hell with Satan.
How did God reveal His Son to become the Lord and Messiah to humankind? We serve a great God who is very strategic in all He does. He achieves all His eternal purposes, both for His glory and for the benefit of humanity as well.
The Bible answers that question in Matthew 16:13-20 when the Apostle Peter was the first to answer the Lord Jesus Christ after Christ had asked His twelve disciples, ”who the people or the crowds thought or claimed He was”.
Peter, by the grace and help of the Spirit of God, was able to answer correctly and also formally reveal the true identity of Jesus Christ not only as of the Messiah but also as The Son of the living God, to which Jesus Himself replied to Peter that ‘this revelation didn’t just occur to him for the sake of revelation but was heavenly in nature, and strategically directed through the help of Holy Spirit from God the Father. In other words, God finally and formally revealed the true identity of His Son to humanity as both Christ and the Son of the living God through the Holy Spirit and used Apostle Peter as the conduit to achieve that purpose.
Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[b] and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”20 Then, he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Jesus is knocking on the door of every heart that does not know Him as Lord and Savior even right now as you read this post, so that He may come in and make you a child of God through salvation, and if you haven’t yet opened the door of your heart to Him, please do so right now.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Jesus Christ will never invade anyone’s heart; no, He can only plead with all sinners to let Him come into their hearts. He is Just and kind and has given us the gift of ‘free will,’ to make decisions based on our own will, knowing well that whatever decision we make in regards to salvation, they will have consequences just like any other decisions we make in life that affect us in different ways in this physical life. Therefore, Jesus is calling and seeking out your heart, that He may dwell in it through the Holy Spirit, and this is the ONLY time(when you are still alive and on this earth) that He can do so, and this is the only time for you to open your heart for Him.
In the book of Isaiah 55:6,
Isaiah 55:6 (New King James Version)
6 Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near. God is warning that there will come a time when He won’t be found, and He won’t be reached. He says that if you call on Him now in this life, you can find Him through Jesus Christ, but if you wait until after death, you won’t find Him. Jesus Christ is and forever remains that precious and important to all life. He issues such sincere warnings because He loves us very much and doesn’t want to see any of us die an everlasting death(an eternal death in Hell).
We see God reaching out to humanity for fellowship, God craves fellowship with man, for He loves man so much that He created him in His own image, Genesis 1:27 (New King James Version)
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
He created man in His own image, thus wants to protect His investment ‘so to speak,’ He does NOT want to see man perish, or His very own go down the wrong way, for He loves him dearly and very seriously.
It’s this same love that John talks about in John 3:16 (New King James Version)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Think about that statement, that God loved man so much that He had to give up His own begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die and make a sacrificial atonement for his sin in his place so that God could forgive him through the shedding of blood, for the Bible says that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin or forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:22 (New King James Version)
22 And according to the law, almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood, there is no remission.
After Jesus shed His blood and accomplished the mission that God had sent Him for on the cross, ‘He said it’s finished,’ signifying a total release from the power of sin and spiritual death and giving him(man) freedom to fellowship with Almighty God through worship and prayer, anytime, anywhere 24/7, 365 days of the year.
Jesus Christ will remain at the door of the sinners’ heart knocking continuously until it’s opened, and if one rejects Him and adamantly refuses to open the door of their heart to Him, then they will die as lost souls and be damned in Hell forever.
Please accept God’s free offer of salvation which He paid in full on his Own behalf through the cross of His Son Jesus Christ, freely receive salvation now; yes, it’s free; take it today and not tomorrow!
There are serious consequences if you do not accept this free offer of salvation that God the Father gives to all humanity, and All MUST receive salvation. If you refuse this offer and die, first, you will be denied entry into Heaven, and nobody would like to be denied entry into Heaven because the consequences of that happening are unimaginable, to say the least. Don’t be denied entry into Heaven because if you are denied, then be prepared for the other side (HELL), which is the absence of Heaven, and total eternal separation from the presence of the Almighty God, where you will find yourself in one of the loneliest, isolated and horrible places you can ever imagine, and a very horrible place with a real and nasty feeling of groping in space while engulfed in the darkest of the blackness of darkness you could ever imagine. Hell is a place of unquenchable roaring hot and thirsty red flames (like live Lava from an erupting volcano). Those who unfortunately end up there have a feeling like been tossed off a sixty-storied building and never getting to the bottom in the worst record-breaking heat and stench your nose has ever smelled while crying and wailing so loud with no one insight to help you, and this goes on forever. While worms, snakes, and demons ravage your body continuously and constantly throwing spears at you while hating you so bad at the same time (because that place belongs to them(demons and worms) NOT you. Jesus described that place as a place of unquenchable fire and where worms are forever present and everlasting. Matthew 3:12 (New King James Version)
12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Matthew 13:42 (New King James Version)
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:41 (New King James Version)
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
where ‘ Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
John 15:6 (New King James Version)
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; they gather them and throw them into the fire and are burned.
Jesus also described that place in a story in Luke 16: 19 about the Rich man and Lazarus
19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who Him laid at his gate, 21 desirings to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between you and us, there is a great gulf fixed so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you; therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”
From the story above, you can clearly see the seriousness of Hell, not only being a place of torment but of great regret about life on earth and squandering the awesome opportunity to repent and receive forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ.
Here’s what Jesus also says will happen to those who refuse to open the doors of their hearts in this life while He remains knocking. He says that He will also refuse (after they die)to open the door to His Kingdom when they need Him most, saying, He did not know you, because while on earth you declined his offer for salvation and His Kingdom and you shut the door of your heart on Him, so this time you will be left out also forever;
Luke 13:25 (New King James Version)
25 When once the Master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’
27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
The decision to refuse Christ the opportunity to come into your heart and change you and write your name in the book of life is a very costly one indeed, more than any other one has ever made in your entire life(think about that?), you are highly warned and advised NOT to take it lightly, it means eternity, it means everything for you. Jesus is Lord and, therefore, essential for us all. He is the ONLY one you need to know to take you to God the father;
John 13:3 (New King James Version)
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands and that He had come from God and was going to God,
John 14:6 (New King James Version)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
God paid the total price for your sins at the cross by His Son’s sacrificial death on Cross at the hill on Calvary, and so there should be no objection or excuse whatsoever for your sin not to be forgiven, this is what he says about judgment;-
John 17:33 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
When you believe by faith and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and the Lord of your life(that He died in your place), and repent of all your sins(forsake and stop sinning), be baptized in water, you shall receive forgiveness of your sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and God will write your name in the Lambs book of Life. If you do not believe and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior, therefore your name will be missing from the book of life, and you shall be cast into the lake of fire, it’s guaranteed.
17 The wicked shall be turned into hell,
And all the nations that forget God.
Revelation 20:15 (New King James Version)
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Receive your gift of salvation from God today and right NOW! tomorrow might be too late, and if you don’t know how to, please write to us. We’ll be more than happy to guide you in the process of repentance(forsaking a lifestyle of sin in your life) from sin(Galatians 5:19-21) and welcome you into the Kingdom of God. Once you make that decision, angels in Heaven will celebrate your decision as the Father includes your name in the lamb’s book of life; therefore, welcome to the kingdom child of God. (you can kneel right where you are right now and ask Jesus into your heart)
Here’s a simple prayer to say, when you are asking Christ into your heart for the first time and salvation, repeat.-
Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, I repent, denounce, and recant all my sins, I believe and accept you to be my Lord and Savior who died and shed His blood on the cross on my behalf, forgive me today and come into my heart and dwell in it by your Holy Spirit, change me to be like you, I believe today I became a child of God, born again, blood-washed, set free from sin and forgiven, please write my name in the book of life, help me to follow you daily as your disciple(follower), thank you for receiving me into your kingdom, in Jesus name, Amen.
Congratulations: you are now a born-again believer; begin a new life of newness in Christ, away from the world and its lusts.
Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
